In my new book, I´m working with a lot of hand-drawn-ish styles, so I needed some textures. The only dried out marker I could find was pink, which made the process so much more beautiful and garish.
Scanned it all in and blended with the rest of the artwork, it looks bloody awesome, if I may say so myself.

Come June and everyone else can see it too.

Jean Giraud R.I.P

In comics, illustration, musings, personal on 10/03/2012 at 21:26

Jean Giraud, better known under his nom-de-plume Moebius, succumbed to cancer today, 73 years old.

I had the enormous privilege of meeting him during the Kemi comics festival 2003. I am today saddened by his demise, as well as happy I was able to tell him personally how much his art inspired me to continue drawing through my youth, well after my peers had lost interest.

I don´t believe in talent, I think you become good by not quitting. I think I am not alone in having Moebius´ art as an inspiration in not quitting during those crucial years.

Again, thank you, Mr. Giraud.
